Hollywood couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have moved to Germany after leaving the French chateau they called home for the last five months.

The couple and their six children left the country on Sep 23, landing at Berlin’s Tempelhof airport, according to reports.

Reports state the family will be staying in Germany for about 90 days in a villa south of the capital city.

Pitt is due to begin filming the new Quentin Tarantino film Inglorious Bastards there next month.

They would be staying at a 30,000 square-foot mansion, Palais Parkschloss on Wannsee Lake, that boasts a private helicopter-landing pad, a dock and a full security system equipped with a staff of 14 bodyguards.

Chappell tips Ponting run feast in India

“I can see a steely glint in his eye and I always worry when I see that in good players because that means there are a few runs around the corner,” Chappell, a former India coach, was quoted as saying by ‘The Sydney Morning Herald’.

“If I was the Indian team and I wanted to worry about something, I would worry about that. The only discussion we have had about it, in fact he (Ponting) was the one that initiated and made the comment that basically what he has to do is trust his method,” he added.

Ponting has more than 10,000 Test runs under his belt but has always struggled on the turning tracks of India, averaging little over 12 there.

Even in the ongoing tour, the feisty right-hander has not made a very good start, scoring just five runs in a practice game in Jaipur against an attack that comprised Ranji-level bowlers.

Chappell, however, foresees Ponting doing well in the Test series starting October 9 in Bangalore provided the Aussie skipper continues to believe in himself.

“If he trusts his method and applies it here, I have no doubt that he will be successful. I think there have probably been a few occasions in India where he has got away from that method and that has perhaps been part of the issue when it comes to performance in India,” he said.

Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh has reached France for the India-European Union Summit at Marseille.

During the summit, an action plan on cooperation in areas of peace and security will be unveiled.

The action plan will also address issues like sustainable development, cooperation in science and technology and enhancing people-to-people contact.

Earlier, speaking to reporters, Dr Singh said that in our fight against terrorism we must make our intelligence and prosecution stronger and improve the investigation process.

Prime minister will also hold bilateral discussions on various issues including strategic partnership and the civilian nuclear cooperation with French President Nicolas Sarkozy at the Indo-French summit in Paris.

India, France set to sign nuclear agreement

India and France are poised to ink a landmark civil nuclear deal similar to the one with the United States, which will be the first such agreement to be initialled by any country with New Delhi signalling an end to its 34 year old nuclear apartheid.

Though Indian officials said that the Indo-French Nuclear Cooperation Agreement is expected to be signed soon, France gave its clear indications that it will be inked during Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s visit to Paris on Tuesday for talks with French President Nicolas Sarkozy.

Sarkozy said that the prospects of cooperation between France and India in the civil nuclear field are “very promising” considering his country’s expertise, long tradition of cooperation with New Delhi and an atmosphere of trust.

India and France had initialled the Framework Agreement for Civil Nuclear Cooperation in January but could not sign it pending a waiver from the 45-nation Nuclear Suppliers Group.

Now that the NSG has given its nod, New Delhi and Paris are free to sign the agreement during Singh’s visit to Paris.

The framework agreement was inked during Sarkozy’s visit to India in January this year.

“We have already initialled the framework agreement in civil nuclear matters. It will certainly come up for review and possible signature during my visit,” Dr. Singh told reporters on Sunday when asked whether he expected the nuclear agreement to be signed during his two-day tour to Paris.

Prior to their bilateral talks on Tuesday, both Singh and Sarkozy will meet in Marseilles on Monday for India-EU Summit as France is the current chair of the 27-nation European body.

The presence of Atomic Energy Commission chief Anil Kakodkar also indicated the possibility of the nuke pact being inked.

An Indian official said India and France may also initial a bilateral social security pact.

Under the planned agreement, more than two lakh Indians in France will be eligible to avail social security benefits.

The Union Cabinet had on 18th September approved the terms for signing the pact.

Another agreement which is on the cards is regarding civil aviation.

Life style in Delhi

Delhi shares its borders with Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Punjab, which influence the life-styles and language of the people. Characteristics of its geographical location, its inhabitants are a race blend of tradition and intellect. They are extremely receptive to modern ideas, inventions and the fantasies of the modern social ethos. People belonging to various religious sects, castes and lingual groups live marvelously with each other, with their socio-economic status taking a back seat. Migrations from various parts of India has led to diverse culture coming together in various parts of Delhi. Durga Puja in Delhi celebrated with same enthusiasm as Id is celebrated. The Guru Purab and Christmas carry the same colour as Dewali or Buddha Purnima. The amalgamation of various cultures, traditions, religions has painted Delhi in colour which are brought from all over India.

Today Delhi is a crowded and extremely polluted modern city, which has ancient, crumbling structures cropping up unexpectedly in every area. Although sixty percent of Delhi-ites are born elsewhere, the city’s population has grown over forty percent in the last decade and now stands at around fourteen million. Rapid growth has seen Delhi spilling into the surrounding states, creating satellite developments such as Gurgaon to the south. The city has been attracting its fare share of industrial development in the last two decades, with an influx of technocrats, specialists and fortune seekers to match. In a heady atmosphere of optimism, around 9000 new industrial units sprang up every year during the 1990s. Despite this new-found affluence, a staggering third of the city’s population lives in the notorious jhuggies - slums often seen clinging to the edge of new developments. With a daily average of around 200 major incidents of crime , including mindless cases of murder accompanying simple robberies, Delhi has gained the dubious reputation of being the crime capital of the country. The poor aren’t the only perpetrators of crime - the city’s nouveau riche young, burdened with more money than sense, have been responsible for some of the most notorious recent cases.
